I don’t think people truly understand what depression feels like especially as a mom. It’s not just sadness. It’s not just “having a bad day.” It’s carrying a weight you can’t explain… while still being expected to show up for everyone else. For me, depression didn’t just start one day. It’s been with me since I was an adolescent. I’ve learned how to function with it, hide it, push through it but that doesn’t mean it ever really left. Some days, I wake up already overwhelmed.
